Reunion 1990 Information
Reunion # 4 – October 11-14, 1990 – Fort Walton Beach, Florida
The fourth USAF Helicopter Pilot Reunion was held 11-14 October 1990 at the Holiday Inn on the Emerald Coast, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. While any number of words could be used to describe this gathering, simply stated: “What a great celebration is was”! More than 380 active and retired helicopter pilots and their wives and guests participated in the various events.
Starting with the early opening of the hospitality suite on the 10th until its closing after farewells Sunday afternoon the 14th, the considerable ability of the USAF rotorheads to have a good time proved remarkable. On Thursday, 96 took advantage of the sailings aboard the Flying Eagle. Friday’s events included 30 adventurers going deep-sea fishing on the Doctin fleet, 36 playing in the golf tournament at Hurlburt Field, 21 canoeing on the Blackwater River, 9 playing in the tennis tournament at the Holiday Inn, 188 touring the 20th Special Operations Squadron and the MH-53J static display at Hurlburt Field and 346 enjoying the seafood buffet and dance poolside on the Gulf of Mexico. On Saturday while the association held a business meeting, 131 ladies met for a brunch and fashion show at the Holiday Inn and that evening 389 attended the banquet and dance.
The weather was perfect during the entire reunion. Many new claims to fame were heard in conversation at the hospitality suite and fixed wings were stamped out for sure.
We cannot express enough appreciation to the numerous friends who made the trip to Fort Walton Beach and made the reunion a success. Pleased to have the opportunity to serve as your 1990 reunion committee, we are:
